Councillor

Nik Zarza

Biography

I have had a close association with North Devon since 1984 as my wife is from Barnstaple and hence I’ve been a regular visitor to the area. For many years, we dreamt of retiring here and eventually did so in 2021. Although I graduated in Biochemistry,  I ended up in the timber trade due to the early ’80s recession but eventually changed career and re-trained as a software developer in 1997. From there, I worked my way to up to being an IT director in Sky Plc where I ran the department responsible for bespoke systems handling automated customer ordering and service diagnostics for Sky Broadband, Telephony and Mobile.

Before retiring in 2023, I wanted to contribute to the local community and looked to find areas where I might add value. The parish council has been an ideal way to make positive changes that make a difference. I have three daughters and two granddaughters.
