A small plaque recognising the contribution of the Lewises to this campaign and other aspects of village life was put up. Shown are four parish councillors alongside the Lewises, in dark glasses, and Mat, the skilled carpenter, in yellow, who managed to work round all the restrictions. What most people had not realised was that Mat had subtly incorporated a map of the constellations visible from Croyde into the back board.
